Sampdoria and Genoa have set up a semi-final Derby della Lanterna meeting in the final phase of the 2009-10 Campionato Primavera after staging remarkable turnarounds in their quarter-final ties on Wednesday, while holders Palermo are out.
Samp came from 2-0 down to beat Coppa Italia winners AC Milan 3-2 after extra time in Tolentino with Edoardo Blondett, Aagaard Kiilerich and Nenad Krsticic replying to Nnamdi Oduamadi's double.
City rivals Genoa recorded a similar comeback of their own against Chievo later in Civitanova with a brace of Fabian Polenta penalties and Isaac Cofie's goal turning around the 2-0 lead the Verona side had through an Amedeo Benedetti penalty and an own goal by Polenta.
Twenty-four hours earlier, "Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti" holders Palermo crashed out of the tournament after losing 2-1 against Empoli in Camerino after extra time. Karim Laribi had given the Sicilians the lead but a Nicolao Dumitru double edged the Tuscans into the last four.
Empoli will now meet Brescia for a place in the final after the Rondinelle eliminated Lazio 2-0 in Macerata thanks to Omar El Kaddouri and Albi Kuci.
The Final Eight phase of the Under-20 competition is being staged in and around the Province of Macerata, in the central Marche region of Italy. The semi-finals will be contested on Friday and Saturday with the final set for Macerata's Stadio Comunale Helvia on Tuesday 8 June.
