Serie B - Week 19: Rescheduled Matches

Saturday 30 January
Sassuolo 3-2 Salernitana
Sassuolo have moved to the top of Serie B after a 3-2 win against Salernitana, but it proved more difficult than expected against bottom club Salernitana. The match at the Stadio Alberto Braglia was one of four mathes to be rescheduled from Week 19 because of heavy snow. It looked to be all under lock and key after 50 minutes for Stefano Pioli's men thanks to Balestri accidentally nodding a cross into his own net, Quadrini pouncing on a howler from the goalkeeper and Martinetti tapping in from Salvetti's assist. However, the visitors staged a spirited fightback. Soligo sparked the reaction by making the most of Caputo's pass after 56 minutes, then seven minutes later Dionisi took advantage of Minelli's mistake. But the home side held on to go level on points with Lecce at the top of the table.

Cittadella 1-0 Ancona
Ancona were joint leaders only a few weeks ago, but have tumbled down the standings with three defeats in the last four away games and here lost to the relegation strugglers. Ardemagni was the star of the show, as he thumped the crossbar in the first half and was brought down by Miramontes for a penalty. He also stepped up, but was denied by Da Costa's save, the fifth time Cittadella have failed to convert a spot-kick this season. The home side did get their deserved victory in stoppages, as Ardemagni made up for it by tapping in the rebound from a saved Iunco effort.

Triestina 1-3 Piacenza
Piacenza earned a shock victory by fighting back to conquer Trieste, although they remain in penultimate place. Cottafave had put the home side in front when he redirected a Pasquato free kick that ricocheted off the crossbar. Godeas had scored a second which was ruled offside, but the second half was all Piacenza. Ciani nodded in the equaliser and smashed in an angled drive soon after. Right at the death Moscardelli struck on the counter to secure the win.

Mantova 2-1 Crotone
Mantova got the points in this relegation dogfight and had it pretty much sewn up at half-time. Carrus connected a diving header to Salviato's cross and in first half stoppages Salviato turned scorer with a fine volley. Crotone tried to fight back, as Abruzzese bundled a corner over the line, but it was not enough.
