Cesena 3-1 Lecce
Cesena are well and truly in the promotion race after crushing Serie B leaders Lecce. Goalkeeper Rosati brought down Bucchi for Do Prado to convert the opening penalty in first half stoppages. Straight after the restart it was 2-0, as Do Prado ran on to a Schelotto through ball to place the angled drive into the far corner. Cesena were dominant and went 3-0 up when Giaccherini's wayward cross-shot took Rosati by surprise. Only late on did Corvia make an impact for Lecce, by which point the two teams were hampered by snowfall and the visitors reduced to 10 men following Schiavi's second bookable offence.
Ascoli 1-0 Padova
An own goal allowed Ascoli to celebrate Christmas with a rare victory under their belts. In a bid to clear Antenucci's effort, Soncin ended up putting it into the back of his own net just 120 seconds into the match. Padova thought they had equalised, but Di Nardo’s strike was disallowed for a dubious offside position.

Albinoleffe 2-0 Empoli
Empoli had the chance to catch Lecce at the top of the table, but are also defeated this weekend. Albinoleffe dominated proceedings and broke through when Perico got on the end of Grossi’s centre. On the hour mark Sala nodded in from a Previtali corner kick, while there were also chances for Foglio, Cellini and Cia.
Gallipoli 2-1 Reggina
Gallipoli fought back to defeat Reggina, who have now lost two of their last three games. Bonazzoli had opened the scoring, but in the space of six minutes it was all turned around. Mancini fired in from a Di Carmone cross and Scaglia pounced on a lucky ricochet. Cacia thought he had grabbed a point for the Amaranto in stoppages, but Sciarrone performed a crucial save.
Grosseto 2-1 Frosinone
Grosseto leapfrogged Frosinone in the standings with this ill-tempered head-to-head that saw three red cards. Just 10 minutes in Turati was brought down for Pinilla's penalty, then Valeri pounced on a defensive error between Maietta and Sicignano to make it 2-0. On the stroke of half-time there were two dismissals for Frosinone, as Maietta and Del Prete lost control with reaction fouls in midfield that sparked a brawl. Despite playing with nine men, the visitors got back into the game with Mazzeo and late on Alfageme saw red for Grosseto.
Vicenza 1-0 Torino
Toro’s crisis drags on with another surprise defeat. This time they were at the Stadio Menti and fell to a late Sgrigna lob that floated under the crossbar. Vicenza had the better of the play overall and deserved this result with Sereni saves on Sgrigna and an Ogbonna goalline clearance to deny Sestu.
Brescia 1-0 Modena
Brescia looked set to fire Coach Iachini when Flachi came off the bench to score a sensational strike 120 seconds from the end. Although they had most of the possession, they struggled to create chances and in fact risked going behind to Bruno, who hit the woodwork with a free kick, and Catellani. However, when Flachi volleyed a Zambelli cross it secured the victory for the Rondinelle. There was still tension, as Arcari had an equaliser disallowed in stoppages.
