[Pre-season] Five-star Zarate debut

Summer signing Mauro Zarate made a sensational debut in a Lazio shirt by scoring five goals, while Catania and Udinese were both in friendly action.

Zarate bagged five of Lazio's eight goals in a crushing victory over local side Bellunese.

Not only did Zarate score five, but he also impressed with his overall performance. Goran Pandev netted two goals of his own, while the 8-0 scoreline was rounded out by Cristian Ledesma.

Goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo also made his debut in a Biancocelesti jersey, but it was difficult to judge his performance considering he didn't have a save to make.

Catania were in action this evening in two 45-minute encounters so coach Walter Zenga could experiment two different sides.

The first line-up beat Viole 5-0 with goals from Andrea Catellani, Mirko Antenucci’s brace, Cristian Silvestri and Matias Silvestre.

The second team saw off Selezione Assisi 8-0 thanks to a Michele Paolucci hat-trick, while Ezequiel Alejo Carboni, Pablo Ledesma, Jorge Martinez got one each and new boy Nicolae Dica got two.

Udinese also picked up a comfortable 10-0 victory over a local Sappada side at their pre-season training camp.

A brace each from Antonio Floro Flores, Simone Pepe and Giampiero Pinzi, plus further goals from Dusan Basta, Ferdinando Sforzini, Salvatore Foti and a Raffaele De Martino penalty secured the win for Pasquale Marino's side.
