[Mercato] Mutu exit talk refuted

Adrian Mutu's agent has damped speculation the Romania international could quit the Viola this summer in search of a fresh challenge.

It had been mooted the former Chelsea striker has become unsettled following the summer capture of Alberto Gilardino from AC Milan.

Fiorentina have offered the 29-year-old improved terms at the club, although he is yet to put pen to paper as he is away on holiday.

However, Mutu's agent has hinted the striker will commit his long-term future to the club once he returns to Florence.

"Fiorentina came to us and offered to improve and extend Mutu's deal and we appreciated this effort," agent Alessandro Moggi told Radio Kiss Kiss.

"We are waiting for Adrian to come back from his holiday to clarify the situation. Fiorentina knows he's an important player who shows a big commitment to the jersey."

It had been rumoured Roma had bid for the former Parma striker, but Moggi says no offers have been lodged with Fiorentina.

"Roma? We have never been contacted, Fiorentina never got offers for him," Moggi concluded.
