Players call for Arrigoni return

The Livorno squad has demanded club President Aldo Spinelli reconsiders the sacking of coach Claudio Arrigoni.

Arrigoni was dismissed after Sunday's 5-1 humiliation at Atalanta, the club's eighth game without a win, which saw them plummet to 12th in the standings.

Spinelli reportedly stormed into the dressing room after the game and announced his decision to dispense with Arrigoni's services.

The former Cagliari boss had taken over the reins of the Tuscan outfit last May.

"The team is united against the club," said Livorno captain Cristiano Lucarelli. "We hope [club president Aldo] Spinelli will change his mind."

Former Perugia and Udinese coach Serse Cosmi has been linked with the post. Livorno host title-chasing Roma on Sunday.
