Arri-goni after Atalanta thrashing

Following today’s 5-1 thrashing at Atalanta, it was almost inevitable that Coach Daniele Arrigoni would be fired.

He had been on a tightrope for several months after run-ins with President Aldo Spinelli over his squad selection and tactical choices, so this proved to be the final straw.

"I am ashamed of this team," slammed Spinelli at the Stadio Azzurri d’Italia this afternoon. "It is impossible to concede 10 goals in three games."

The Amaranto have been struggling badly of late, without a win in seven rounds, during which they picked up just three points.

Today’s defeat was against Atalanta, who with this result leapfrog past Livorno into seventh place, leaving the Tuscans in 12th.
