Ascoli have this morning confirmed the appointment of Nedo Sonetti following the dismissal of Attilio Tesser on Monday.The 65-year-old will be officially unveiled later today and will take charge of his first training session this afternoon.
Sonetti returns to Serie A after guiding Cagliari to safety during the 2005-06 campaign after their dreadful start to the season.
Ironically, Sonetti joined the Sardinian club after 11 games and has now done the same with Ascoli this year.
The minnows are yet to win this season and have only collected four points out of a possible 33 so far.
The Piombino native has actually already taken charge of the outfit in the past when he led them to top-flight promotion back in 1990-91.
