[Mercato] Milan take Boateng from Genoa

AC Milan have signed Ghanaian international midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng on a season-long loan from Genoa.

The 23-year-old, who spent last term with Portsmouth, completed the formalities of his undisclosed transfer from the English club to Genoa on Tuesday.

The Rossoblu then immediately loaned him to their Serie A rivals, who have the option of making the deal permanent at the end of the campaign.

The length of contract signed by Boateng remains undeclared.

The left-footed player started his career with Hertha Berlin before joining Tottenham Hotspur in summer 2007. A loan move to Borussia Dortmund followed in January 2009 prior to his permanent switch to Portsmouth seven months later.

Born in Berlin, Boateng chose to represent Ghana earlier this year despite playing at every level of Germany's youth programme.

He appeared against the country of his birth, and brother Jerome, in the group stage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He scored his first international goal in Ghana's second-round victory against the United States in South Africa.
