Inter confirm Benitez as coach

Inter have confirmed the appointment of former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez as their new coach.

Benitez has quickly found himself a new job after leaving the English Premier League club by mutual consent last week.

Inter President Massimo Moratti made Benitez his top target to succeed Jose Mourinho at the San Siro following the Portuguese tactician's move to Real Madrid.

Benitez has signed a two-year deal with Inter and he has a tough act to follow in Mourinho, with the former Chelsea chief guiding the Nerazzurri to an unprecedented treble of UEFA Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia last season.

The Spaniard is to be unveiled to the media in a press conference at the club's Appiano Gentile headquarters next Tuesday.

A club statement read: "Inter welcomes Rafael Benitez. This morning, with both parties in agreement, a two-year deal until June 30, 2012 has been agreed between the Spanish coach and the club."
