> Lega Pro 1 Background information

Lega Pro 1 Girone A
Novara won promotion to Serie B in Week 32 after a 3-3 draw at home to Cremonese on April 25. At the end of the regular season, Novara finished five points clear of second-placed Varese.

Varese will now have to contest the end-of-season promotion play-offs, alongside Cremonese, Arezzo and Benevento for the final promotion spot to the second division. Full play-off fixtures and results are posted below.

At the other end of the table, bottom-club Lecco were relegated automatically to Lega Pro 2 while Paganese, Pro Patria, Pergocrema and Viareggio will hope to avoid the final two relegation spots by winning their end-of-season two-legged relegation play-out ties. Full play-out fixtures and results are posted below.

Lega Pro 1 Girone B
Portogruaro-Summaga won promotion to Serie B in Week 34 after a stunning 1-0 win at promotion rivals Verona on the final day of the season on May 9. At the end, Portogruaro finished just one-point clear of second-placed Pescara, who also had a mathmatical chance of winning automatic promotion, and four points clear of Verona.

Pescara and Verona will now have to contest the end-of-season promotion play-offs, alongside Rimini and Reggiana for the final promotion spot to the second division. Full play-off fixtures and results are posted below.

At the other end of the table, with seven matches still to play and with a mathmatical chance of staying up, Potenza were punished with demotion on March 20, which was then confirmed on an appeal on April 1, for match-fixing. They were forced to play all their remaining games, but will automatically end the season bottom of the table and with relegation to Lega Pro 2. Therefore, Giulianova, who finished with two points less than Potenza at the end of the regular season, will now be able to avoid the final two relegation spots by taking part in the end-of-season two-legged relegation play-out ties, alongside Pescina, Foggia and Andria. Full play-out fixtures and results are posted below.
