Lazio have completed the signing of Villarreal midfielder Sebastian Eguren on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal.
The Uruguayan underwent a medical earlier today and finalised his move to the Italian capital shortly after.
Eguren only joined Villarreal in the summer of 2008 having enjoyed spells at home-town club Montevideo Wanderers, Norwegian side Rosenborg and Swedish outfit Hammarby.
Despite being a regular in the Villarreal midfield last term Eguren has found Primera Liga opportunities harder to come by under new coach Ernesto Valverde.
Lazio are thought to have paid £300k to seal the loan with a figure of £2.6million being mentioned to make the deal permanent in six months' time.
The 29-year-old's arrival could pave the way for want-away Biancocelesti midfielder Cristian Ledesma's exit, with Inter reportedly wanting his services.
