AC Milan have been dumped out of the Coppa Italia at the quarter-final stage after going down to a 1-0 defeat to Udinese at the San Siro.
Udinese, struggling in Serie A, secured a first away win of the season on 56 minutes when the highly-rated Gokhan Inler scored to set up a semi-final tie with Roma next month.
Milan coach Leonardo made wholesale changes to the team that lost 2-0 in the city derby against Inter on Sunday, with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar paired alongside Filippo Inzaghi in attack.
But both strikers failed to test Udinese goalkeeper Samir Handanovic as the visitors ran out comfortable winners.
Gianni De Biasi's side will now meet Roma, who battled to a 1-0 win over Catania on Tuesday, in the two-legged semi-final ties in early February.
Inter host struggling Juventus in the final last-eight tie on Thursday in what could be Juve coach Ciro Ferrara's last game in charge amid media speculation he will be sacked.
Fiorentina are awaiting the winners of that encounter after the Viola beat holders Lazio 3-2 last week.
