Serie B - Week 14: Rescheduled Matches

Reggina 0-2 SassuoloTuesday 8 December
Reggina 0-2 Sassuolo
Reggina are still not out of their crisis, despite the controversial win at the weekend in Ascoli. Sassuolo dominated this rescheduled Week 14 encounter at the Stadio Granillo and hit the upright with Gorzegno before taking the lead with Polenghi's looping header from a corner. Riccio's shot was only parried into the path of Noselli for a second and the striker was then hauled down clear on goal for an inevitable Santos red card. Bianco was unfortunate not to make it 3-0 late on, as he also found the frame of the goal.

Salernitana 1-0 Empoli
Empoli crumbled to bottom of the table Salernitana, missing the opportunity to go clear in second place. It was a shock defeat in this rescheduled tie, especially as the visitors had several chances in the second half with Coralli and Eder. Instead it was Salernitana who broke the deadlock 16 minutes from time when Fava knocked the ball down for Caputo’s angled drive.

Frosinone 1-0 Brescia
Frosinone ended a winless streak of over two months by sinking promotion contenders Brescia. Basso hit the woodwork just five minutes in, then the Rondinelle took control by forcing Sicignano into saves on Lopez and Baiocco. However, they didn’t take their chances and Frosinone did, when Santoruvo went clear on Bocchetti’s pass and beat Arcari at the second attempt. Brescia tried their best to get something from this game, but again failed to get the ball in the back of the net with Lopez and Dalla Mano.

Grosseto 2-2 Albinoleffe
Albinoleffe managed a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down in the space of three minutes, as Grosseto threw away valuable points. Pichlmann had nodded in Vitofrancesco’s assist and Mora steered a wayward cross-shot under the bar. It seemed over and done with, but moments after Cellini beat the on-rushing goalkeeper, Bergamelli got the crucial header from Passoni’s free kick to equalise. Grosseto still could’ve won it at the death, but Alfageme hit the upright when one-on-one.
