[UCL] MD3 Wednesday Review

Real Madrid 2-3 MilanAn Alexandre Pato double helped AC Milan record a thrilling 3-2 win at Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League while Juventus picked up their first three points, a narrow 1-0 win against Maccabi Haifa.

Real Madrid 2-3 Milan
Real Madrid and Milan played out a spectacular encounter as the Serie A side recovered from Nelson Dida's early howler to breathe life into their Group C campaign with a 3-2 win. With 16 European Cups between them and a plethora of stars on display, fans flocked to the Santiago Bernabeu expecting something special. Raul opened the scoring midway through the opening period as Dida fumbled from a weak header but two second-half goals in four minutes from Andrea Pirlo and Alexandre Pato - helped both times by poor goalkeeping from Iker Casillas - turned the game on its head. Royston Drenthe's low drive restored parity before Pato decided the contest with a dramatic volley two minutes from time. The Rossoneri, who had a goal wrongly disallowed before the eventual winner, top the group with six points.

Juventus 1-0 Maccabi HaifaJuventus 1-0 Maccabi Haifa
Juventus grabbed three precious points in Group A after toughing out a 1-0 win against ten-man Maccabi Haifa in a rainy Turin on Matchday 3. Giorgio Chiellini's simple header two minutes after the break was enough to lift Juventus to second spot and to five points at the group's halfway stage. By contrast, the Israeli champions, who faded after a bright beginning and suffered the second-half dismissal of Tiago Dutra, still have nothing, not even a goal, to show for their efforts in the competition.
