Roma have confirmed that they have allowed Alberto Aquilani to discuss personal terms with English giants Liverpool after accepting a reported bid of 20million euros.
According to Roma's official website, the Giallorossi have "authorised Liverpool FC to contact Alberto Aquilani to discuss the possibility of an eventual transfer to England".
The 25-year-old, who was disrupted with injuries last season, is expected to travel to Liverpool on Thursday to undergo a medical and complete his transfer to the Premier League club.
A product of Roma's youth system, England coach Fabio Capello gave Aquilani his senior debut in May 2003 at the age of 18.
He has since made 109 Serie A appearances for the capital club, scoring nine goals.
