Conte's Bari future depends on Juve

Bari coach Antonio Conte's future at the Stadio San Nicola depends on whether or not Juventus make an approach at the end of the season.

Vincenzo Matarrese & Antonio ConteConte has earned praise after guiding the Galletti to promotion from Serie B for the first time in eight years.

However, while the celebrations are still on-going, the former Juventus midfielder has been linked with Claudio Ranieri's job and the club have confirmed that it depends on te Turin giants.


"Conte will stay on the Bari bench if Juventus allow it," President Vincenzo Matarrese told Sky Sport 24.

The 39-year-old did not deny a call from Turin was a very real possibility and above all one he would not turn down.

"The President explained himself well," Conte said after his side celebrated promotion with a 2-2 draw at Piacenza. "Now we must enjoy this marvellous moment, then we will see what happens."

Conte wore the Bianconeri shirt from 1991 to 2004, scoring 29 goals in 295 appearances for the club.

This is only Conte's second full season in management after a spell as assistant manager to Gigi De Canio at Siena and a brief experience on the Arezzo bench.

He took over at Bari in 2007 despite protests from some fans due to the fact his hometown is local rival Lecce.
