At the time these sides were contesting the top of the table, but come January 27 the goalless draw served only to send Brescia joint second with Livorno. Bega's goalline clearance denied Noselli the opener when the lob left Viviano stranded. Brescia could've crumbled after Zambelli's second booking, but they clung on despite good chances for Erpen and Piccioni.
