Inter are through to the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia after a 3-1 extra-time success over Genoa.
Genoa did well to last as long as they did after soldiering on for much of the contest a man light following Giuseppe Biava's 20th-minute dismissal for hauling down Adriano in the penalty area.
Adriano squandered the chance to fire the home side ahead after he missed the subsequent spot-kick.
The Brazilian hit-man eventually atoned for his earlier miss when he fired Jose Mourinho's side ahead after 75 minutes. The goal looked to be the winner, but there was a sting in the tail.
Just four minutes later the San Siro was silenced when Marco Rossi snatched an unexpected leveller to force extra time.
Inter did not waste a second chance to progress with goals from Esteban Cambiasso and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, ensuring there would be no fairytale finish from Genoa.
The Nerrazzurri will now face a repeat of last year's final against Roma in the Last 8.
Juventus will complete the Round of 16 with a home tie against Catania on Thursday night.
