Udinese's Gaetano D'Agostino could win his first Italy cap on Wednesday after being named in Marcello Lippi's 22-man squad to face Greece.
The 26-year-old is the only new face in the party but Lippi welcomes back Fabio Grosso, Nicola Legrottaglie, Mauro Camoranesi and Vincenzo Iaquinta from injury.
As expected, veteran Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero has again been left out along with Sampdoria's Antonio Cassano.
Gianluigi Buffon, Antonio Di Natale, Andrea Pirlo, Alberto Aquilani and Gianluca Zambrotta are all injured.
Fabio Quagliarella has been recalled after missing out on last month's World Cup qualifying double header, while Giuseppe Rossi, Cristian Maggio and Simone Pepe all keep their place after their first call-up last month.
The Azzurri squad will gather at the FIGC's training base in Coverciano on Monday before travelling to Athens the following day ahead of Wednesday night's match at the Kariskakis stadium.
