Lecce have made a triple signing on transfer deadline day after securing the services of defender Dusan Basta and midfielder Eduardo Costa, as well as a loan deal for Guglielmo Stendardo.
The newly-promoted side have unexpectedly landed Serbian defensive ace Basta, who seemed to have signed for Udinese.
The 24-year-old had all but agreed a move from Red Star Belgrade to the Stadio Friuli in June and even played pre-season friendlies for the Zebrette.
However, the two clubs never shook hands and Lecce have pounced after watching the situation for the last two months.
Brazilian midfielder Costa signs on a free from Espanyol, after they decided the 25-year old was not needed.
The Spanish club paid around £3m for Costa when they signed him from Marseille in 2005 but he returned to Brazil to spend a year on loan to Gremio.
Stendardo also joins the Salentini on a season-long loan from Lazio.
The centre-back spent the second half of last season with Juventus as the relationship with Lazio coach Delio Rossi wasn't too good.
The trio will hope to help Lecce improve on their disappointing showing in their 3-0 defeat against Torino on the opening day of Serie A.
