Palermo shot-stopper Amelia sustained a back injury during yesterday's training session and was sent home today.But this evening Lippi has decided to call in a replacement in the form of Curci.

In today's session in Coverciano Lippi tested out a new four-man defence with Alessandro Gamberini and Fabio Cannavaro flanked by Marco Cassetti and Andrea Dossena.
Nicola Legrottaglie and Alberto Aquilani are back in full training after fitness concerns, but are not expected to be in the starting XI against Cyprus in Larnaca on Saturday.
The 2010 World Cup qualifiers continue when Italy welcome Georgia to Udine next Wednesday.
