Fiorentina have announced that star striker Adrian Mutu has extended his contract at the club until 2012.
The Romanian international has always been keen to stress his contentment in Florence, but his future was thrown into doubt this summer.
Roma saw Mutu as the perfect answer to their striker shortage and approached the Gigliati with a bid of £18m.
Mutu appeared to agree the deal, but the Viola rejected the approach and the ex-Chelsea man has recommitted himself to his current employers.
"Fiorentina would like to communicate the official extension of Mutu's contract until 2012," a statement on the club's website reads.
The terms of Mutu's new deal are yet to be released, but it has been suggested that he will earn £1.8m per season over the next four years.
Fiorentina have already extended the contract of star goalkeeper Sebastien Frey and have protected their main assets ahead of this season's Champions League adventure.
