Napoli have reached the first round of the UEFA Cup with a 5-0 thumping of Vllaznia Shkoder in Naples tonight, adding to their 3-0 first leg lead.
The Partenopei started the night knowing that they just needed to avoid a catastrophic upset to progress to the UEFA Cup proper and rather than sit back to defend their lead, Edy Reja's men went out gung ho and finished the job in emphatic style.
However the hosts, who rested most of the starting line up from a fortnight ago, had to wait until just before half time for the opening goal as Leandro Rinaudo latched on to a loose ball to put his side ahead on the night with a well taken finish.
Inacio Pia made it 2-0 shortly after the interval with a nice finish on the turn before Rinaudo grabbed his second a couple of minutes later after the Albanian defence fell asleep.
Two substitutes added the gloss on the scoreline as Ezequiel Lavezzi returned fresh from his Olympics success with Argentina and he marked the occasion with a well taken goal to pile more misery on the visitors.
Marek Hamsik completed the rout just before the final whistle when he was gifted a chance by German Denis.
The Azzurri, who return to European football for the first time since 1994, will join AC Milan, Sampdoria and Udinese for the first round draw on Friday.
