[Serie B] Parma-Rimini to open season

The Emilia derby between Parma and Rimini will kick off the 2008-09 Serie B season on Friday night.

The Stadio Tardini hosts the opener on Friday at 1945 UK time (+1hr for Italy/CET), while Bari welcome Triestina for the closing match of the opening weekend on Monday evening.

All the other nine Week 1 games will kick off at 1500 on Saturday afternoon.

After weeks of negotiations, the Lega Calcio have also confirmed that fans will be able to follow the Second Division live this season on Italian television following last years blackout.

A deal for the next two years has been agreed with Serie B's governing body and satellite broadcaster Sky Italia and digital terrestrial provider Telecom Italia.

However, bids received for the free-to-air highlights have been rejected meaning, as things stand, fans without pay TV will have to do without highlights.
