[FIXTURE CHANGES] Udinese-Palermo opens season

Udinese against Palermo will open the 2008-09 Serie A season and will be followed by Sampdoria-Inter on Saturday August 30.

The fixture list for the new campaign was drawn up nearly a fortnight ago but it has only been announced today which games will be played before and after the main bulk on Sunday afternoon.

UEFA Cup hopefuls Udinese and Palermo will kick off the season at the Stadio Friuli at 1700 UK time (+1hr for italy/CET) on August 30.


Reigning champions Inter will then begin the defence of their title at Sampdoria's Stadio Luigi Ferraris at 1930.

The crunch match of the first round will be saved for Sunday night when bitter rivals Fiorentina and Juventus meet at the Stadio Artemio Franchi at 1930.

The rest of the Week 1 games take place at 1400.
