Tommaso Rocchi will be the only 'over-aged' player to go with the Italian team to the Olympic Games in Beijing.
The announcement came from the President of the Italian Football Federation Giancarlo Abete after a meeting with his counterpart at the Italian Olympic Committee, Gianni Petrucci.
"Rocchi will help this team be competitive as they look to follow up their Toulon Tournament triumph at the Olympic Games," Abete said.
Despite being able to call upto three players over the age of 23, the Lazio forward, who scored 14 goals last season, will be the only addition to the squad.
Coach Pierluigi Casiraghi, who will have Gianfranco Zola as Technical advisor alongside him, will have one final preparation game against Romania on July 22 in Pistoia to assess his players before announcing the rest of the official 18-man squad.
Italy have been drawn in Group D for the Olympics with South Korea, Cameroon and Honduras.
