[Pre-season] Amauri makes five-star debut

Amauri made an impressive debut for Juventus as the Bianconeri thrashed Mezzocorona 7-1 on Friday, while Napoli went down to their first pre-season defeat.

Juventus started their summer preperations with an annual friendly against Lega Pro 2 outfit Mezzocorona.

All eyes were on Amauri after his big-money transfer from Palermo and the Brazilian didn't disappoint as he hit five goals in the first half.

The first came after 15 minutes at the back post, three minutes later he doubled the advantage with an angled strike and his hat-trick came with an acrobatic volley just after the half-hour mark.

Vincezo Iaquinta's efforts made the fourth possible with a tap-in from the right after 36 minutes and it was 5-0 by half-time as the insatiable Amauri back-heeled home from Iaquinta's assist.

The 4000 fans were enchanted and they had more treats in store as the youngsters arrived with six changes at the break.

Christian Pasquato and Simone Esposito added the finishing touches before D'Acampo scored a consolation for the fourth tier minnows.

In the evening, Napoli were defeated 1-0 at Hajduk Split, but there were many positive signs for coach Edy Reja.

The Azzurri went into their first 'real' test match of the campaign and fell to a Linic goal 31 minutes in.

Marek Hamsik should have equalised from the penalty spot, but failed to get it on target.

German Denis, who scored a hat-trick on his Napoli debut against Jennersdorf, was again the star of the show in Split. He earned the penalty that Hamsik missed and had a goal very harshly disallowed for an alleged push.

It was a positive performance for Napoli, who will begin their Intertoto Cup campaign on July 19. They'll face the winners of the OFK Belgrade-Panionios second round match.
