[Mercato] Inter confirm Muntari deal

Inter have officially confirmed the signature of Portsmouth midfielder Sulley Muntari and will present him to the press this morning.

After weeks of links with Chelsea star Frank Lampard, the long-awaited midfield reinforcement arrives from Fratton Park rather than Stamford Bridge.

With a deal for Lampard adjudged to be impossible, at least until next summer, the Italian champions have decided to commit to their reserve choice.

It is believed that the Beneamata have agreed to pay somewhere in the region of £11m for Muntari and he is ready to put pen to paper today.

A statement on Inter's website confirms that the Ghanaian international will be unveiled at 11am and will join Jose Mourinho's squad for pre-season.

Before moving to England last summer, Muntari made his name with Udinese and impressed sufficiently at the Stadio Friuli to become a target for several of the peninsula's top teams.

Now the 23-year-old is preparing for the biggest opportunity of his career as he becomes Inter's second swoop of the summer after Amantino Mancini.
