Kaka goes under the knife

AC Milan playmaker Ricardo Kaka is to undergo surgery to alleviate the knee injury that affected his season following an examination by a specialist in his native Brazil.

The 26-year-old was a regular fixture in the Rossoneri side throughout this season, scoring 15 goals in 30 Serie A games, but experienced discomfort in his left knee for much of the campaign.

After meeting a specialist it was decided that an arthroscopic operation would be the best solution, with early estimates suggesting he may be out for a fortnight after going under the knife today.

It means he should be back to full fitness for next term, though he is expected to miss Brazil's forthcoming friendlies with Canada and Venezuela.
