Wednesday is D-day for Cagliari

Cagliari are facing the most important 24 hours in their season on Wednesday when they will learn if their appeal against a three-point deduction is successful before taking on Atalanta at the Stadio Sant'Elia.

The Sardinian club are five points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table but could climb out of the relegation zone if things go their way in the next 24 hours or so.

"We are only thinking about one thing and that is to avoid the drop," said coach Davide Ballardini. "It is something we can still achieve and we will not give up until the end."

With the Rossoblu having failed to win on the road since the opening game of the season when they beat Napoli, Ballardini knows his team must keep up their good run at home.

The coach has done well in focusing on matters on the pitch rather than on the punishment which was handed by the FIGC earlier this month after the club took unauthorised legal action against a former player for alleged defamation.

  1. I hope Cagliari get those 3 points. That will make a big difference if they win the following 2 matches.

Question is: Will Cagliari Beat Atalanta and Sampdoria in Round 29 and Round 30?

Hey, I hope so. I have confidence in goalkeeper Storari and striker Robert Acquafresca. Let's see what happens..
