Cassano given five-match ban

Antonio Cassano has been fined and handed a five-match suspension following his sending off and subsequent reaction during Sampdoria's 2-2 draw with Torino on Sunday.

The striker, on loan from Real Madrid, was sent off for dissent towards the end of the game before removing his shirt and throwing it in the referee Nicola Pierpaoli's direction.

He then continued to shout abuse after eventually leaving the field.

The former Roma star, who has been in fine form of late, was charged with seven offences relating to the incident and will have to pay a €15,000 (£11,000) fine as well as missing the remainder of his side's games in March, including the game at AC Milan.

Cassano offered a public apology following the incident.
