UC Group Stage: Matchday 4 Review

Fiorentina had a rest on Matchday 4 of the UEFA Cup but there was action for the rest of the teams in Group C as a brace from Jon Dahl Tomasson secured Villarreal a place in the knock-out stages.

Villarreal 2-0 Elfsborg
Group C, Matchday 4
Villarreal wasted little time in taking the lead against Elfsborg at the El Madrigal as Tomasson fired in on two minutes.

Six minutes after the interval, Tomasson - who won the Uefa Cup with Feyenoord back in 2002 - added his second to secure the three points which books Villarreal a place in the knock-out stages and ended Elfsborg's hope of reaching the final 32.

Mlada Boleslav 0-1 AEK Athens
Group C, Matchday 4
AEK Athens were in front one minute after half-time at the Mestsky Stadion when Tam Nsaliwa finished well from Gustavo Manduca's cross and despite hitting the woodwork twice their hosts had no answer.

The Greek side can confirm their place in the knock-out stages with win in their final game against Villarreal, but a point would be enough if Mlada defeat Fiorentina on 20th December. Mlada must record three points against Fiorentina if they are to qualify.

La Viola just need a draw in Florence to progress.
