Serie A Week 16: Saturday Review

Alessandro Del Piero's double took Juventus up to joint-second place in Serie A after a thrilling 3-2 win against Lazio while Udinese failed to stay in touch after slipping to their third defeat of the campaign.

LAZIO 2-3 JUVENTUS
Juventus moved above Roma into second place in Serie A thanks to an inspired Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluigi Buffon against Lazio. Del Piero created one and scored two in a 3-2 victory while Buffon restricted Lazio to just two goals in an entertaining game in the capital. David Trezeguet put the visitors ahead with his 12th league goal of the season after 29 minutes, but Goran Pandev levelled matters seven minutes later. Del Piero put Juve back ahead in the 47th minute and doubled his own tally and the Bianconeri's lead in the 70th minute before Pandev scored a late consolation. The mercury may have dipped below zero, but the teams warmed the fans with an entertaining game at the Stadio Olimpico.

CATANIA 2-0 UDINESE
Udinese missed the chance of going closing the gap on the teams above them in Serie A as they lost 2-0 at Catania. A brace from Giuseppe Mascara earned the Sicilians all three points and a place above rivals Palermo in eighth. Mascara scored in the eighth minute after a bright start from the home side and he killed the game off as Udinese looked for an equaliser three minutes from full time.
