Inter fought back from a goal down in Russia to defeat CSKA Moscow, while a stunning Mirko Vucinic goal for Roma saw off Sporting Lisbon.
GROUP G: CSKA Moscow 1-2 Inter / PSV Eindhoven 0-0 Fenerbahce
Walter Samuel's first Champions League goal earned Inter an invaluable comeback victory at CSKA Moscow.
Jo had given CSKA a deserved half-time lead but injuries weakened the home team and Hernan Crespo equalised early in the second half. Inter were edging an open game though there was a touch of fortune about their winner on 80 minutes – Luis Figo's free-kick was headed straight at Veniamin Mandrykin by Samuel but the goalkeeper allowed the ball to slip through his grasp.
In the group's other game PSV Eindhoven's six-match winning streak at home to Turkish clubs came to an end as an industrious Fenerbahce side deservedly held on for a goalless draw with ten men after Deivid was shown a straight red card just past the hour-mark. Matchday 4, on November 7, sees the reverse fixtures.
GROUP F: Roma 2-1 Sporting Lisbon / Dynamo Kiev 2-4 Manchester United
A fine individual goal from substitute Mirko Vucinic gave Roma three precious points from a tight contest against Sporting Lisbon at the Stadio Olimpico to leave them clear in second place in Group F with six points from three games.
A replacement for the injured Francesco Totti, the Montenegrin's 70th-minute strike was only his fourth goal for the Giallorossi. Earlier, in an even first half, Sporting's Liedson had equalised fellow Brazilian Juan's header for the home side. The teams' important return match comes up in Lisbon on 7 November.
In the other game, Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice as Manchester United cruised to a comfortable victory at Dynamo Kiev to make it three wins from three and move to the brink of qualification. The visitors led after ten minutes when Rio Ferdinand headed in a free-kick from Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney quickly added a second on the counter-attack. Dynamo were briefly given hope when Diogo Rincon nodded in, but Ronaldo restored the two-goal cushion just before half-time. The influential Portuguese added the fourth from the penalty spot before Dynamo's Ismael Bangoura completed the scoring with 12 minutes remaining.
GROUP E: Glasgow Rangers 0-0 Barcelona / Stuttgart 0-2 Olympique Lyonnais
GROUP H: Arsenal 7-0 Slavia Prague / Sevilla 2-1 Steaua Bucharest
