Reggina appoint Ficcadenti

Reggina have named former Verona boss Massimo Ficcadenti as their new coach, replacing Walter Mazzarri.

Ficcadenti had been heavily linked with the job over the past few weeks, but had to wait until his situation with Hellas had been resolved.

"Verona had placed their veto on the deal, but at this stage that is null and void," explained President Lillo Foti. "With their relegation into Serie C, the contract between Ficcadenti and Verona has lost its validity.

"The agreement was written with precise terms to take charge of the squad in Serie A or B. Now there are no more obstacles. We will officially present the new coach on July 1."

Despite the fact that Ficcadenti had been fired by Verona in December 2006, the club still tried to keep him from joining another outfit.

He has also coached Fiorenzuola, Avellino and Pistoiese.
