Catania have appointed Silvio Baldini as their new coach, the Serie A club confirmed this afternoon.
The 48-year-old replaces Pasquale Marino, who resigned a week ago after Catania stayed in the top flight with a defeat of relegated AC Chievo Verona on the season's final day.
Baldini made his name at Empoli leading the club from Tuscany to Serie A promotion in 2001/02.
After helping his side to keep their top-flight status the following season, he coached Palermo in 2003/04, Parma in 2004/05 and Lecce in 2005/06 but was sacked midway through the season at all three clubs.
