Roma lift Coppa Italia!

Roma have won the Coppa Italia for the eighth time in their history, and first since 1991, with a 7-4 aggregate success against Inter despite a 2-1 second-leg defeat at the San Siro.

Trailing 6-2 after their humbling in the capital eight days ago, Inter began at a frenetic pace and could have taken a fourth-minute lead had Dejan Stankovic's inventive lob not flicked off the crossbar. A similarly spectacular back-heeled effort from Hernan Crespo then fell the wrong side of the post as Inter dominated the first half without scoring. When the Nerazzurri finally found the net five minutes into the second it was the Argentinian who was on target, heading in a Maicon cross.

Roberto Mancini's side quickly added a second as Julio Cruz's low shot passed between goalkeeper Doni's legs, although things then took a downturn as defender Ivan Cordoba saw red on 71 minutes.
Simone Perrotta scored with seven minutes to play for Roma, who had Christian Pancucci sent off late on with the silverware long assured.

Both clubs have already qualified for next season's UEFA Champions League group stage, Inter as Italian champions and Roma as runners-up.
