Group D - Matchday 1
Roma are top of Group D after a 4-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk at the Stadio Olimpico, but it wasn't quite as straightforward as the scoreline suggests. Then Francesco Totti's wonderful finish and goals from Daniele De Rossi and David Pizarro completed a comfortable-looking win.
In the other game, Fernando Morientes scored a hat-trick for Valencia as the Spanish side won 4-2 away at Olympiacos. Michalis Konstantinou put Olympiacos ahead in the 28th minute, but Morientes scored in the 34th and 39th minute to put the Spanish side ahead. Olympiacos levelled on 65 minutes through Nery Castillo, but Raul Albiol's 85th-minute drive restored Valencia's lead before Morientes' last-minute header sealed the win.
