Chievo have bolstered their ranks with the loan signing of Gelson Fernandes from French outfit St Etienne.
The Switzerland international only made the move to St Etienne 12 months ago after a two-year spell with Manchester City when he showed promise but failed to establish himself as a regular starter.
He is now embarking on a fresh challenge in Italy after joining Chievo on a season-long deal with the option for a permanent transfer next summer.
Chievo made a winning start to the new Serie A campaign with a 2-1 victory over Catania at the weekend and will be delighted to add Fernandes to their squad.
The 23-year-old midfielder scored the only goal of the game in Switzerland's shock victory over eventual champions Spain at the World Cup.
