Italy have been handed a boost with the news that Andrea Pirlo has returned to training.
The AC Milan midfielder took part in his first full training session in South Africa on Monday after recovering from a calf problem.
Pirlo has been out of action since picking up the calf injury in a friendly with Mexico at the start of the month.
Pirlo has been sorely missed in Italy's first two games against Paraguay and New Zealand with the world champions failing to record a win so far in the tournament.
The 31-year-old could now be set to make a welcome return for Italy's final group game with Slovakia on Thursday with the Azzurri needing to win to secure their place in the last 16.
