New look for Serie A

The Lega Serie A has unveiled its new logo for the Serie A championship.

The newly-created governing body of the Italian top-flight, which will officially be operational from July 1, broke away from the Lega Calcio union this summer to form an independent league for the 2010-11 season, separating from the second-tier Serie B after over 60 years together.

President-elect of Lega Serie A Maurizio Beretta and club officials were at the presentation of the new logo at its headquarters in Milan.

New logos for the Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana and the Primavera youth competitions, which will all be governed by the Lega Serie A, were also presented today.

At the ceremony this afternoon, it was also announced that Serie A will continue to be sponsored by Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) after the Lega decided to renew its title-sponsorship deal with the telecommunications company for another two years.

The new season is scheduled to kick off on August 29.

Meanwhile, the new Serie B championship is expected to be launched next month.
