[Mercato] Astori stays at Cagliari

Davide Astori will not follow coach Massimiliano Allegri to Milan after Cagliari renewed his co-ownership deal for another season.

The promising 23-year-old centre-back has been in Sardinia for two years, but there were reports that Milan wanted him back.

He made 34 appearances for Cagliari last season and is widely regarded as one of Italy's brightest young defenders.

It's thought that part of the reason why negotiations to appoint Allegri were so protracted was because he asked for Astori.

Cagliari have already done deals to keep Lorenzo Ariaudo and Andrea Lazzari in Sardinia for another season.

Il Corriere dello Sport believes they will now try to re-sign Robert Acquafresca who left for Genoa last summer.
