[Mercato] Cassano staying at Samp

Sampdoria have rejected reports linking Antonio Cassano with a move to Serie A rivals Fiorentina.

Antonio CassanoReports over the weekend suggested Fiorentina were closing in on a loan deal for Cassano before the close of the transfer window.

Cassano has found himself out of the picture at Sampdoria in recent weeks, but the colouful striker seems set to stay in Genova.

"Sampdoria deny any negotiations regarding an eventual transfer of the player Antonio Cassano to Fiorentina," read a statement on club's official website.

Cassano added: "I am staying at Sampdoria. I'm staying even if I can't deny that for some moments I saw myself leaving."

Fiorentina moved for Cassano as they look for a replacement after Adrian Mutu was given a provisional ban by anti-doping authorities for twice testing positive for a banned substance.

After missing out on Cassano the Viola have now turned their attentions to Barcelona's Keirrison.

Keirrison has spent the first half of the season on loan at Benfica, but he not settled in Portugal.

Barcelona are prepared to loan out Keirrison as he is well down the pecking order at Camp Nou and the highly-rated 21-year-old is currently undergoing a medical in Florence.

Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino confirmed they considered a move for Cassano, but that they were now close to signing Keirrison.

"I found myself in an emergency situation. We thought of Cassano," Corvino told Sky Sport.

"Keirrison is an attacker with Barcelona and we are negotiating. He is in Florence for his medical."
