[UEL] MD5 Review

Salzburg 2-1 LazioLazio are out of the UEFA Europa League after a 2-1 defeat against Salzburg while Genoa's hopes of qualification will go to the final matchday after a goalless draw at Slavia Prague.

Salzburg 2-1 Lazio
Salzburg earned their fifth consecutive Group G win and progressed to the knockout stages as section winners with another memorable 2-1 success over Lazio. Although Pasquale Foggia cancelled out Rabiou Afolabi's 52nd-minute opener, the Austrian champions continued to press throughout a lively second half and Somen Tchoyi brought a buoyant crowd to their feet with a wonderful individual strike. It proved the winner and took his side though to the round of 32 in style, condemning Davide Ballardini's Lazio to elimination.

Alessio Scarpi produced a superb goalkeeping display to earn a 0-0 draw for Genoa and end Slavia Prague's hopes of reaching the round of 32 in this season's Europa League. Slavia created chances and had two goals disallowed, but they found the experienced Scarpi in inspired form. The 36-year-old's performance means third-placed Genoa will go through if they beat Valencia in Italy on Matchday 6, with a draw only enough for Gian Piero Gasperini's side if Lille lose at home to Slavia.
