Serie A - Week 8: Saturday Review

Genoa 0-5 InterInter produced a superb 5-0 win at Genoa, capped by a stunning Dejan Stankovic volley, to open up a three-point lead at the top of Serie A while Juventus and Fiorentina drew 1-1.

Genoa 0-5 Inter
Inter moved three points clear at the top of the table with a 5-0 thumping of fifth-placed Genoa. Esteban Cambiasso broke the deadlock six minutes in when his shot deflected in off Emiliano Moretti. The visitors continued to dominate and Mario Balotelli doubled the lead just after the half-hour mark after running on to Cambiasso's pass. The always-threatening Dejan Stankovic made it three in first-half stoppage time, volleying Marco Amelia's clearance straight back over the goalkeeper's head from the halfway line. To make matters worse for Genoa, Amelia's understudy Alessio Scarpi was sent off from the bench as the half-time whistle went, and on 66 minutes Patrick Vieira made it four after being set up by Wesley Sneijder. Five minutes later Douglas Maicon got in on the act with a cool finish following clever work from Sulley Muntari.

Juventus 1-1 FiorentinaJuventus 1-1 Fiorentina
Juventus failed to win for a fifth consecutive game after being held to a 1-1 draw by Fiorentina. The Bianconeri had to come from behind after Juan Manuel Vargas gave the visitors the lead after just five minutes when he converted from Stevan Jovetic's clever pass. Juve drew level on 19 minutes when Amauri scored his first goal of the season after linking up with strike partner Vincenzo Iaquinta. The draw leaves the two sides locked in joint third on 15 points with Juve above Fiorentina on goal difference.
