Alberto Aquilani has successfully passed his medical with Liverpool and has agreed a five-year contract with the English giants.
The former Roma midfielder has been captured by Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez as a replacement for Xabi Alonso, who has been sold to Real Madrid.
"Liverpool FC confirmed this evening that Alberto Aquilani has successfully completed a medical and agreed a five-year contract with the club," read an official statement.
The 25-year-old arrives after the Premier League club agreed a reported transfer fee of 20million euros with Roma.
Aquilani, who missed large sections of last season due to recurring ankle and thigh problems, is expected to be out for between four and eight weeks to continue his rehabilitation from an operation.
The Italian international joins compatriot Andrea Dossena at Anfield.
