[2009-10] Serie B fixtures released

Torino will kick off the new Serie B season with a tricky trip to Tuscany to face Grosseto on August 21.

Ceremony at CONI's Hall of HonourThe recently-relegated club are seeking immediate promotion back into Serie A as are rivals Reggina, who travel to Cesena on the opening day, and Lecce, who host Ancona.

The 2009-10 season fixtures were released alongside its top-flight counterpart at a ceremony held at the Italian Olympic Comittee's (CONI) Hall of Honour in their Foro Italico headquarters in Rome this afternoon.


The pick of the other Week 1 fixtures sees Empoli going head-to-head with Piacenza, Brescia playing host to Cittadella, Albinoleffe welcoming Vicenza and Salernitana meeting Frosinone.

Excluding midweek rounds, international weeks and public holidays, most of the second tier matchdays will have a match scheduled for Friday and Monday nights, with the rest played on Saturday afternoons.

To avoid the summer heat, however, matches on the first two weekends will all be played in the evenings with a decision due shortly on the exact dates and kick-off times for games in the early part of the campaign. Full details are available

The regular season concludes on May 30 and the final day fixtures include: Empoli-Grosseto, Lecce-Sassuolo, Padova-Brescia, Reggina-Albinoleffe and Torino-Cittadella.
