Udinese have it all to do after going down 3-1 to Werder Bremen in the first leg of their UEFA Cup quarter-final tie, but a late away-goal from Fabio Quagliarella gives them hope ahead of the return in Udine.
WERDER BREMEN 3-1 UDINESE
Werder Bremen took a big step towards the UEFA Cup semi-finals after two superb goals by Brazilian playmaker Diego steered them to a 3-1 victory against Udinese. Diego made the breakthrough on the half-hour mark with a precise low drive from the edge of the area. The Bundesliga outfit went on to strike twice in as many minutes after the break through Juventus target Diego and Hugo Almeida before Fabio Quagliarella pulled one back to give Italy's only remaining European contenders hope for next Thursday's second leg.
