UC - Last 16: Udinese take control of Zenit tie

Udinese 2-0 Zenit St. PetersburgUdinese are firmly in control of their UEFA Cup last-16 tie with holders Zenit St. Petersburg after securing a late 2-0 win in the first leg in Udine.

Late goals from Fabio Quagliarella and Antonio Di Natale floored UEFA Cup holders Zenit St. Petersburg to give Udinese a strong lead to take into the second leg in Russia next week and reaching the quarter-finals. With the Russian side having largely denied their opponents a sight of goal, Quagliarella poached Udinese's opener with five minutes remaining and a Di Natale penalty left Zenit needing a sizeable win at the Petrovsky Stadium if they are to progress to the last eight. Roman Shirkov was sent off for conceding the spot-kick, and the Russian side will also have to do without defender Aleksandr Anyukov for next Thursday's second leg after a late booking ruled him out. Maurizio Domizzi will miss out for Pasquale Marino's side.
